Gu Yang found himself at Cloud Rising Orphanage in 2010, temporarily losing his memory and unwittingly repeating the course of history. Meanwhile, Ryan and the others retained their memories as they returned to their desired point in time, observing the unfolding events. However, as they existed only as ghost-like consciousnesses, they were unable to alter history. Eventually, the breaking of the Mobius Ring allowed Gu Yang to end the cycle, and everyone returned to their rightful paths, with the UO disappearing entirely.

He had never realized that the years spent under Singer’s hypnosis, pretending to be Ji Minghui, were the most relaxed and happiest of his life.

During that time, he truly believed he was Ji Minghui. Life was peaceful; father and son shared a harmonious bond. There were no wars or unexpected tragedies looming overhead. He could pursue his academic interests, make like-minded friends, and enjoy three glasses of light wine, content to live out his days in blissful ignorance.

But Singer’s arrival shattered that self-induced illusion and ruined his dream.

He came to understand that he was merely a rat, attempting to seize someone else’s happiness from the shadows.

When he awoke from that dream, he found himself still a man without a country, adrift in a world with no place to call home.

The journey across the mountains was arduous. Who would mourn for those who had lost their way? They were mere strangers, chance encounters, all guests in a foreign land.

He had once wavered, contemplating murder–Singer and the real Ji Minghui, those who knew the truth. He fantasized about hypnotizing himself into being Ji Minghui forever, erasing the memories of his past, and living peacefully while basking in the lives of others.

Every night in his dreams, the cries of bombings and the flames of bloodshed in his homeland jolted him awake from his nightmares. Almost all of his family and friends had perished in that war.

Ultimately, he resolved to tear off his disguise and embark on the second light cone experiment.

He yearned to return to the past and save the old friends who had been cast out of time by the flames of war. He wanted to rescue his homeland, riddled with devastation. He would do anything; although he had died nine times, he had no regrets.

However, he did not anticipate that upon his return, he would only be able to float through the world like a ghost, helplessly watching the tragedy unfold again before his eyes.

When the memories of his homeland returned, tears streamed down his face.

The past was already behind him, yet it felt as elusive as a dream.
