Chapter 1518: The Edge of the Sword
Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

They were oblivious to the risks that distributing tens of millions of virtual artifacts could pose to Braydon Neal’s family.

Dominic Lowe and Kieran Normand looked ashamed.

They didn’t linger for long and left with respectful bows.

Braydon personally escorted them out.

Upon returning to the manor, he looked at Heather Sage with a hint of helplessness. “Perhaps I was too harsh just now.”

“Martial Emperor Teacher was correct. These individuals in the capital are shamelessly leeching off you. Take this recent incident, for example. After finding out about the significant improvement in the overall strength of the Northern Army due to your efforts, they came clamoring for more as if they forgot who you are,” Heather remarked, her tone reflecting her own frustration.

With Braydon’s generous nature, he had procured a substantial amount of resources from the cosmos, bolstering the Northern Army’s strength.

Yet, the surplus items were still shipped to the capital for distribution, much to their annoyance.

Heather continued angrily, “And let’s not forget about the virtual artifacts. They’re well aware that there are millions of them available. Once distributed, the powerful and aristocratic families will ensure they get their share. There’s no avoiding it!”

“These individuals have spent a considerable time in the Second Universe. If they were to discover you and Trevon, would they conspire with the demons to eliminate you?” Heather’s voice softened as she voiced her concerns.

As they strolled beneath the setting sun, Braydon held her hand in silence.

After a moment, Heather’s tone grew stern when Braydon did not respond.

“It’s fortunate that Martial Emperor Teacher withheld the virtual artifacts. If they were distributed, I wouldn’t tolerate anyone endangering you and Trevon. No one would threaten your safety on my watch!”

Braydon halted abruptly, his expression stunned by Heather’s resolve.

In the past, he had always shielded Heather.

Braydon had overlooked the fact that Heather had been safeguarding the palace for many years.

The heavenly sword had remained sheathed for a considerable time, yet its edge remained sharp. It was, after all, the heavenly sword, a weapon of lethal capability.

Braydon grasped the implication behind his wife’s words.

If Martial Emperor Yanagi were to distribute the 30 million virtual artifacts without considering the consequences, he would face dire repercussions.

Those who dared to lay their hands on the virtual artifacts would meet their end.

The message was clear: recover all the virtual artifacts!

Dominic and Kieran had sought virtual artifacts, even entertaining the idea of their distribution, which had already triggered Heather’s ire.

Her words had been forthright for a reason; she wouldn’t have spoken so vehemently otherwise.

Yet, this was only natural!

Any mother witnessing a threat to her husband and child would likely risk everything to safeguard them.

A mother’s love was powerful enough to compel her to do the unthinkable.

Braydon glanced at her and chuckled softly.

“It’s not as dire as you imagine. Even if my whereabouts were exposed, this is the territory of the human race in the cosmos. The eight lineage masters, Chadwick Neal, and the others won’t allow the demon experts to trespass so easily. Otherwise, it would be a grave blow to their prestige.”

“Demons are indeed formidable,” Heather interjected, her brow furrowing in concern.

The super races of the universe were fearsome entities with countless experts in their ranks.

Complete defense against them was nigh impossible unless Chadwick personally guarded Earth.

Braydon didn’t refute her.

Instead, he expressed curiosity. “What is your soul imprint like?”

“Triangular!” Heather rolled her eyes, incredulous at Braydon’s gullibility.

“Triangular? The soul imprint is really strange!”

“I lied to you. Soul imprints are all round,” she admitted with a hint of amusement, finally revealing the truth about soul imprints.

Braydon, now enlightened, grasped the gravity of the nine overlapping imprints on Sadie Dudley’s body.

Nine soul imprints stacked together!

It was indeed terrifying!

“Why are there two soul imprints on Trevon’s body?” Braydon suddenly inquired.

“You noticed?” Heather was taken aback by his observation.

Braydon nodded silently, prompting Heather to grasp his hand and close her eyes in concentration.

After a moment, she frowned upon opening them.

“Your soul imprint has fused into your soul and has yet to manifest. How did you know about the matter of one soul and two imprints? How did you even see through Trevon’s secret? Did that woman tell you?” Her suspicion toward Sadie was evident.

Braydon, unbothered by the suspicion, simply acknowledged it without explanation.

There was no point, especially when Heather didn’t believe him.

“What did that woman say?” Heather asked softly, her curiosity piqued.

“She said she’ll think of a way to solve it,” Braydon replied, unaware of any solution himself.

Heather’s response was not unexpected.

“She has nine overlapping imprints. She is an anomaly herself. Trevon has one soul and two seals. It is not a problem for her.”

“What are the conditions to stimulate the awakening of the soul imprint?” Braydon queried, his interest now piqued.

“What?” Heather shot him a quizzical look, then suddenly turned angry. “Do you really want the soul imprint to appear?”

“Hmm?” Braydon sensed the sadness in his wife’s eyes, prompting him to wonder if reviving the soul imprint was truly a good idea.

Heather softly explained, “Those who have a soul imprint will never be able to erase it. How powerful was their cultivation when they were alive? In the end, their cultivation turned into an imprint, and they entered the reincarnation cycle just to forget the pain and suffering!”

A person who had reached the pinnacle of the universe was forced to die, turning into a soul imprint and entering the reincarnation cycle.

This meant they lost the right to protect everyone around them.

Losing this qualification meant they would suffer the pain of losing their loved ones–endless painful memories of the deaths of their brothers, wives, and descendants were etched in the soul imprint.

Braydon, understanding his wife’s sentiment, held her cold hand and chose not to ask any more questions.

Instead, they watched the setting sun together, with Trevon and Judith Neal playing on the grass nearby.

Though Braydon wore a gentle smile, his heart was filled with a profound longing–for the Neal family manor to last forever and for the people around him to be immortal.

As night fell, Braydon entered the Second Universe through his virtual artifact.

The place was as bright as day, teeming with cultivators in the cosmos.

Upon arrival, Braydon found Avery Ladd.

“Avery!” he greeted warmly.

Avery stood up to welcome him. “Braydon, you’ve been going in and out of the Second Universe quite frequently recently. Did something happen?”

“The matter has been resolved. I want to know the situation on the space battlefield in the Milky Way Empire,” Braydon asked directly.

Avery smiled bitterly. “The situation isn’t looking good. I’ll be there in half a year. The two empires have already issued a recruitment order for the holy master realm and the saint heart realm. Lord Obed Zafar is going too.”

“Ezra Evans is going over soon. I didn’t expect the situation to be so bad,” Braydon said, deliberately revealing the reason for his inquiry about the space battlefield.

Avery had also heard about the infamous Ezra.

He had conned many geniuses with Braydon and earned a lot of star coins.

It was obvious that Braydon and Ezra had a good relationship.

“The recruitment is voluntary,” Avery said bluntly. “However, all the holy master realm cultivators who know about it will participate. It’s all for the race.”
