“Dinner’s ready. Let’s eat.” With Chu Xiaoqiao’s announcement, everyone paused their activities to wash their hands and eat.

“You should drink some water first to soothe your throat, let everyone else handle the rest.” Chu Molin found it hard to see his wife in such discomfort. He couldn’t bear her sickness for her, so he poured her a cup of water.

“Thank you,” Qin Xue said graciously as she accepted the water, her throat was sore and dry.

“Please, everyone, enjoy your meal. It’s not often that we all gather like this, so let’s not stand on ceremony,” Chu Molin said. Li Zhao had said he would come too, but after waiting a while without seeing him, they didn’t know what he was up to. So, they decided to start the meal without waiting for him further.

Li Zhao was indeed caught in some troubles. He sincerely couldn’t make it, and there was nothing he could do about it.

“He didn’t say anything, but I could see he was feeling down when I asked him, and then he stared at a photo. I could not see who was in the photo though.

I should tell him when I have the time that Nangong Shulan is alive, to see how he reacts,” Nangong Beiying added. When she mentioned the name the other day, she was asked to leave Mr. Nangong’s room before she could comment further.
